Bio

Ms. Lehman-Hilfer, a Venezuelan born artist explores landscapes, still life paintings, portraits and graphics in a style that has at its roots a combination of both impressionism and a more realistic form of representational art. Her paintings explore the everyday objects and scenes in her life as well as upstate landscapes. Her works represent the way color, form, line and light transform everyday settings into a level of visual excitement on the canvas.

Intimate urban interiors and spacious rural landscapes reflect the way natural light and the arrangement of household and studio materials impact on her vision of space. Her portraits of family and friends experiment with different styles meant to capture an inner presence. Her paintings attempt to put order and joy in an otherwise chaotic world and often reflect the appreciation of the beautiful light found in the tropical country of her birth.

Ms. Lehman Hilfer received her BFA from Pratt Institute and has studied at the Art Student’s League. Additionally she studied painting with Pilar Aranda and Francisco San Jose both in her native Venezuela and in Spain. She has been a part of numerous group shows.
