Prince Street Gallery is pleased to present FRACTURE, a Prince Street Gallery Artists Exhibition

The theme of Fracture was selected by gallery artist curators Flavia Bacarella
and Gina Werfel. Participating artists found visual metaphors to express a
breaking apart or disconnected condition, ranging from the personal, to reflections
on nature, on art, and on the fractured state of the United States and the world
at large. Artists were asked to write a short statement about how their work suggests
this theme.

A selection of the responses are quoted below:

Over time, even the strongest of things can come apart. Rock can
fracture when stress exceeds the rock strength. A metaphor for our moment.

“Human disconnect,” a certain kind of isolation, a life shattered, navigating grief.

Fear, greed, selfishness are forces that fracture society. Is it the role of artists
to mirror society as it is, or find a better way? Can our work lead us to optimism?

The exhibition includes a number of genres, including drawings, prints, paintings,
collage and multimedia artworks.
