Katie Weiss will exhibit recent landscape paintings and monotypes. The subjects of these landscapes are the wetlands and wooded areas just outside the city. Each image originates with an observed scene, and is developed in the studio from cumulative views, photographs, drawings and invention. A recent viewer described the work as conveying beauty in “the wild natural foreground, with the hint of another sort of wildness as well as civilization on the horizon.”
Katie Weiss studied painting at the New York Studio School and completed an MFA at Queens College. Her work has been exhibited nationally. She lives and works in New Jersey. This will be her third solo exhibition at Prince Street Gallery.
